Mingo Resendiz Retires After 45 Years With Baker

On Thursday, March 30, Baker Corporate celebrated the retirement of one of its most long-term and valued employees; Mingo Resendiz. In a special luncheon at the Sierra Pine facility, his co-workers, family and friends joined together to recognize his hard work, dedication and ever-positive attitude.

Mingo started with Baker Commodities as a Truck Dumper in the plant in 1972. He worked his way up over the years, retiring as Corporate Procurement Manager. Along the way, he found ways to improve systems and equipment that helped Baker operate at top efficiency. He invented new apparatus and developed procedures that are currently in use including the C1-C5, Indoor Tanks, Lid Lift, Combo Truck, Measuring Grease Stick and Baker Driver’s Manuals.

At the event, Jim Andreoli Jr. spoke eloquently about their long-time partnership. “Every so often a person crosses our path and he or she has such a positive impact on us that it enriches our own character and changes our lives forever,” he said.  “Domingo Resendiz is such a person. Today we celebrate Mingo’s 45-year career and his retirement from Baker Commodities Inc.  We will lament the loss of a team member that is irreplaceable, but we will rejoice knowing that the path for him ahead is filled with new challenges, greater opportunities to spend time with his family, and the rewards of his very productive work life.”

He continued, “As a member of the Baker Family and Baker team, Mingo demonstrated a willingness to go above and beyond on every task that was assigned to him.  Mingo is reliable, trustworthy and punctual, always willing to help others, always has a positive attitude and most importantly, always has a joke to tell.”

Mingo’s wife, Magdalena, sister, Evanjelina Beltran, daughters Veronica Raaff and Marina Ramos, son, Albert Martinez, were on hand to celebrate with Mingo. Also in attendance were nieces and nephews, granddaughters, in-laws and a wide variety of friends. A moving photographic tribute and video captured the extensive span of Mingo’s illustrious career, and ensured there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Finally, he was presented with a very special Baker Commodities Lifetime Achievement Award (only given to a very few employees) and a gold watch.

We will all miss working with Mingo on a day-to-day basis, but his legacy lives on in all of the great contributions he made to Baker. We hope Mingo will relax, have fun and avoid anything resembling work for a long time to come!
