The Andreoli Family Foundation

The Andreoli Family Foundation is dedicated to advancing the care and education of children. As its first donation, it has made a five year pledge to the Boy Scouts of America for the construction of the Swimming Pool Complex at the Boy Scout’s “Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center” in Orange, California. This is a multiple pool complex and is available for use by all youth organizations, not just the Boy Scouts of America. Please see the website for this facility at www.outdooreducationcenter.org.

The Jerome Foundation

In October, 1956, Frank, Paul, and Varney Jerome (the original owners of Baker Commodities, Inc.) founded The Jerome Foundation, with a primary focus on promoting the care and education of children. Although the Jerome brothers are no longer alive, the foundation continues today under the direction of Baker employees and a nephew of the Jerome’s.

There are two Jerome Foundations, the primary operation being in the United States and an affiliated foundation in the Philippines where the Jeromes operated three copra crushing plants until 1973. The U.S. foundation fully funds the Philippine operations as well as providing funding to other U.S. charities for children-related activities. Thanks to the generosity of the foundation, over 30,000 surgical procedures have been performed in the Philippines, mainly harelip, cleft palate, and clubfoot operations. The foundation covers the costs of these procedures, which are performed in the Philippines by Philippine doctors, some of whom were trained in the United States at Jerome Foundation expense.

Since 1999, the Foundation and Baker Commodities Inc. has also sponsored 2 students per year with individual $10,000 scholarships. Applications are taken through the Variety Boys and Girls Club that is located in East Los Angeles www.VBGC.org
